FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
KIRKLAND, Washington – May 16, 2003
STATEMENT FROM KISTLER AEROSPACE CORPORATION REGARDING THE RELEASE OF THE FLIGHT EXPERIMENTS DESIGN AND REQUIREMENTS DOCUMENT FOR TECHNOLOGY EXPERIMENT PAYLOADS

“The release of the Flight Experiments Design and Requirements Document (FEDR) represents the culmination of months of effort by our staff and representatives from the NASA field centers,” said Dr. George E. Mueller, Kistler Aerospace Corporation’s Chief Executive Officer. “We believe that this final product defines a unique, streamlined approach that will allow NASA and other customers to quickly fly and recover space experiments at low cost.”

“Kistler’s existing contract (NAS8-01103) provides NASA with the opportunity to fly technology experiments as secondary payloads on commercial K-1 missions. These flights will provide NASA with continuous access to an inexpensive flying test-bed. On these K-1 flights, NASA will receive flight results as well as have the right to fly primary payloads at a reduced price.”
